What's In the Box?

The Capstone Crate, a premium subscription box service, is expertly curated with posh, fun, and trending products created by Howard Alumni who own their own businesses. Each quarter you will receive a themed box of products BY HU Alumni FOR HU Alumni at your door. You get 4-6 unique and special products from your Howard entrepreneur community that follow a specially curated theme and could include anything from home decor, art, food & drink, apparel & more. Each box will contain at least one Howard-licensed swag item! Images displayed are just an example of products.
Any Howard-specific products included in The Capstone Crate will be branded and licensed by Howard University.

Boxes are mailed out the 15th of every quarter. Boxes must be ordered by the 25th of the month prior. Spring Arts boxes should be ordered by March 15th. Each quarter your Capstone Crate will include 4-6 products geared toward a theme. Products will be selected from various Black-owned Howard-Alumni business owners that include house decor, apparel, food, accessories and more!

What can I expect in my Capstone Crate?

One word: luxe! To be specific, we work hard to especially curate our Capstone Crates with luxury, memories, and YOU in mind. We work with Howard University Alumni business owners to perfect our model. Each box is creatively packaged with a different Howard University theme complete with one luxe feature item accompanied by additional well-crafted, quality products including, but not limited to, men’s and women’s apparel, home and fashion accessories, food and beverage items, children’s gifts & the list goes on.

Is Capstone Crate Howard Alumni-owned?

Absolutely! Capstone Crate is not only Howard Alumni-owned and operated; it is a Black women-owned company operated by LaWanda Toney and Zerline Hughes Spruill – class of 1999 graduates. While The Capstone Crate is founded by Howard University Alumni, Howard University has no affiliation with our Black-owned company. Meet the founders.

What Howard Alumni businesses do you partner with?

We spend most of our time researching companies and meeting with entrepreneurs to learn about their products and services. We then sample products for quality before inviting Bison businesses to become a Capstone Crate partner. We also make sure that any Howard specific products included in our boxes must be branded and licensed by Howard University.

We work with vendors in the areas of home decor and housewares, food and drink, health and wellness, beauty, women’s, men’s and unisex apparel, jewelry and accessories, arts, literature, hobbies and more! What is your return/refund policy?

We curate our boxes well in advance in cooperation with Howard Alumni owned businesses. As such, it is our hope that our tailored Capstone Crates feature quality items that you love. We do not offer refunds. If something is missing from your Capstone Crate, we will definitely replace it. Just email us at [email protected]!

When do I receive my Capstone Crate?

Capstone Crates are shipped out quarterly. The first crate ships in February; the second rolls out mid-spring; the third Capstone Crate is ready in time for the summer; the fourth Capstone Crate is delivered in the fall.
